Charles Lewis Tiffany establishes the “Tiffany art jewelry department” in 1902 to manufacturer their innovative jewelry designs and enameled jewelry. His son is Louis Comfort Tiffany is named the company’s first Art Director in charge of their new designs for both jewelry and gifts.

Tiffany acquires some of the French crown jewels in 1887. The press names Lewis Comfort Tiffany as the “King of Diamonds.”

Tiffany & Co. introduced their signature 6 prong setting for their diamond solitaire engagement rings in 1886. The 6 prong design adds additional prong support to secure the diamond.
The setting is now world famous and is known as the “Tiffany Setting.”

The Boston Museum of Fine Arts acquires a Tiffany Pitcher in 1873. The beautiful design was made from copper, silver, and niello and is one of many pieces to display at many art museums around the world.

Tiffany & Co. was awarded excellence for their silverware at the Worlds Fair in 1867. The Paris Exposition Universelle was held in the Champ de Mars a green space. Tiffany was the first American firm to win an award for silverware. The award reads, “Libertas et Patria.”

Through out Tiffany’s history they have been commissioned to design exclusive pieces for Presidents, Generals and admirals.
